CAF Women’s Champions League: Edo Queens and Masar Women Secure Qualification, Results and Standings Update

CAF Women’s Champions League Match Day 3 games were played on Saturday and Semi Finalists have also emerged in Group B.Masar Women of Egypt never allowed complacency in their meeting with the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Women on Day 3 of their CAF Champion League outing. Niyonkuru opened scoring for the Egyptians in the 21st minute to put them ahead in casablanca.

  • CBE Women played well enough to hold Masar down from scoring more goals in the first half. Yasmin Zezo doubled Masar Women’s lead in the 85th minutes to make it 2-0.
  • However, Wakuma pulled a goal back for CBE women to make it 2-1 in stoppage time. Masar with this win made it 7 points on Group B table.
  • Nigeria’s Edo Queens got their desired results against their counterparts from South Africa. Mamelodi Sundowns Women opened scoring in the 24th minute of first half from Kgadiete’s strike to put defending Champions in the Lead as they sealed the half.
  • A very curious Nigerian side changed their approach to the game in the second half with better defending and maximum concentration. Edo Queens got an equaliser in the 5th minutes of added time to make it 1-1 through Essien’s effort.
  • The Queens from Nigeria again scored when the game was going to a close and this time by Mary Mamudu to make it 2-1, as the Nigerians picked all 3 points, coming from behind to also grabbed the ticket to the Semi Final.
  • Masar Women of Egypt clinched a crucial victory against the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Women to secure their place in the Semi Finals with a 2-1 win.
  • Edo Queens from Nigeria also showed resilience, staging a comeback against Mamelodi Sundowns Women to claim a 2-1 victory and advance to the Semi Finals.
  • Both Masar Women and Edo Queens now stand at 7 points each in Group B, setting the stage for an exciting Semi Final showdown.
