The court order, issued by the Enugu State High Court, alleged that Okiro is not a true indigene of Rivers State, where the position has been zoned. However, Okiro maintains that he is indeed a true indigene of Rivers State, citing verifiable facts and documentation, including his National Population Commission Attestation of Birth and affirmation from his traditional ruler, the Nzeobi of Egbema.

Okiro expressed his commitment to the rule of law and his decision to respect the court’s order, despite not being formally served with the suit or order. He has instructed his lawyers to pursue the case to its logical conclusion, ensuring that his fundamental rights are protected.
