Dangote Refinery Resumes Petrol Loading After Payment

  • Resumption of Loading: Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed loading of petrol on trucks for oil marketers after a brief suspension.
  • Payment Issues: The refinery had stopped loading trucks due to payment issues related to the suspension of the Naira-for-crude program and rising crude oil prices.
  • New Payment Terms: Oil marketers were asked to “top up” their payments to receive petrol supplies.
  • Price Increases: Petrol prices have risen across the country, with new pump and depot prices reaching up to N960 per litre and N900 per litre.
  • Regional Price Variations: Prices vary across regions, with Lagos having the lowest rates and northern states recording the highest.

The resumption of petrol loading at Dangote Refinery comes after oil marketers agreed to the new payment terms. The refinery had initially suspended loading due to payment issues, but has now resumed operations.

The development has led to an increase in petrol prices across the country. According to the latest price list, petrol will sell for N930 per litre in Lagos, while states in the South West will pay N940 per litre. The South South and South East regions will have the highest prices, with petrol selling for N960 per litre.

The price increases have been attributed to the suspension of the Naira-for-crude program, rising crude oil prices, and foreign exchange issues. The situation has raised concerns about the impact of fuel price increases on the economy and the general public.
