The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has taken a bold step to rid itself of fraudulent elements by dismissing 27 officers from its workforce in 2024. The officers were found guilty of various offences related to fraudulent activities and misconduct.

The dismissal was ratified by the Executive Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, following the recommendations of the EFCC Staff Disciplinary Committee. This move emphasizes the commission’s zero-tolerance policy for corruption within its ranks.

According to Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity, the EFCC will thoroughly investigate all allegations against staff members. Olukoyede reiterated the commission’s commitment to zero tolerance for corruption, warning that no officer is immune to disciplinary measures.

The EFCC also alerted the public to be cautious of impersonators and blackmailers using the name of its executive chairman to extort money from high-profile suspects. Two members of an alleged syndicate, Ojobo Joshua and Aliyu Hashim, were recently arraigned in court for allegedly demanding $1 million from a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
