Empowering Nigerian Youth through Innovative Mindset and Essential Skills
At the International Youth Day seminar organized by the Institute of Industrial Development (IID), Mr. Kolawole Osinowo, CEO of Baobab Plus Nigeria, emphasized the importance of Nigerian youth acquiring essential skills to develop an innovative mindset for growth. He urged them to be intentional about their future, creating opportunities from non-existent ones, and embracing lifelong learning.
Osinowo highlighted the challenges faced by Nigerian youth, including high unemployment rates, and encouraged them to think innovatively and set their own schedules. He emphasized the need for young people to develop essential skills to foster a sustainable future through youth empowerment.
Earlier, Engr. Precious Adeho, Founder of IID and Managing Director of Emobella Nigeria Ltd, stressed the importance of creating opportunities for youth participation in governance and addressing the root causes of challenges in education. He emphasized the need for a multifaceted approach to empower Nigerian youth, investing in individuals for the future of the community, economy, and nation.
Dr. Blessing Ayemhere, President of Inspire Xtra Empowerment Initiative (i-Xtra), emphasized the need for government to create jobs for youth to stimulate economic growth in the future. The seminar theme, “Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Skills: Fostering a Sustainable Future Through Youth Empowerment, Developing Tomorrow’s Essential Skills,” underscored the importance of empowering Nigerian youth for a sustainable future.
