Exam Malpractices: WAEC Deregisters 13 Kogi Schools, Blacklists 14 Supervisors

  • WAEC’s Action: The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has deregistered 13 schools and blacklisted 14 supervisors in Kogi State due to various degrees of malpractice in the 2023/2024 examinations.
  • Prosecution: School principals, teachers, and supervisors involved in examination malpractices will be prosecuted under the Kogi State Education Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith, 2020.

  • Warning to Educators: The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones, warned educators to desist from examination malpractices, emphasizing that it’s a criminal offense.

The Kogi State Government has taken a strong stance against examination malpractices, investing heavily in education and vowing to prosecute those involved. The state’s Education Commissioner, Wemi Jones, condemned the rising cases of examination misconduct, stating that “examination malpractice is a criminal offence and will be treated by the law”.

Dr. Jibrin Alhaji, Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Education, urged principals and supervisors to uphold integrity and avoid actions that tarnish the state’s image ¹. With this move, Kogi State aims to maintain the integrity of its education system and ensure a brighter future for its students.
