Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose
• Expulsion Recommendation: Ekiti PDP recommends expelling Ayodele Fayose due to anti-party activities.
• Reasons for Expulsion: Fayose’s public endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term bid.
• Adeleke’s Concerns: Fayose’s actions misleading and damaging to PDP’s image.
• Fayose’s Response: Dismisses recommendation, questions Adeleke’s authority.
The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has recommended the expulsion of former Governor Ayodele Fayose from the party due to alleged anti-party activities ¹. The recommendation was made by the party’s caretaker committee chairman, Dare Adeleke, who cited Fayose’s public endorsement of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term bid as a key reason. Oyebanji is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a rival party.
Adeleke expressed concerns that Fayose’s actions were misleading and gave a distorted image of what the PDP stands for. He also questioned the basis for Fayose’s support of Oyebanji, citing the governor’s alleged failures in infrastructure, health, security, education, and other areas.
In response, Fayose dismissed the recommendation, stating that Adeleke lacked the authority to expel him. Fayose’s aide, Lere Olayinka, noted that Adeleke’s position as CTC chairman was being challenged in court.
The development highlights tensions within the Ekiti State PDP and raises questions about Fayose’s future with the party.
