- FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, vows to tackle insecurity in Abuja.
- He promises to make Abuja a hostile environment for criminals.
- Wike says the government will “show them pepper” and deal with kidnappers and bandits.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his commitment to making Abuja a hostile environment for criminals. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike emphasized that tackling insecurity is crucial to reducing the cost of living, as it would enable farmers to return to their farms and cultivate the land without fear of kidnappers and bandits.
The minister made these remarks while flagging off the construction of the 9.8km Kabusa-Takushara road, which is expected to be completed within six months. The road project features a 2-lane, 7-metre carriage way with solar streetlights and shoulders.
Wike also seized the opportunity to caution school administrators against subjecting students to energy-sapping activities, such as lining them up in the sun to receive him. He emphasized that FCT school children deserve better treatment.
The minister expressed optimism that the current administration would fulfill its promises, citing President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to developing satellite towns. Wike assured the people that the government would deliver on its promises, including the completion of the Kabusa-Takushara road project within the stipulated timeframe.
In addition, Wike ordered an immediate upgrade of facilities at a secondary school in the area, which is housing the road construction project.
