FG Begs Medical Practitioners Not to “Japa” Amidst Brain Drain

The Federal Government has made an impassioned plea to medical practitioners in Nigeria, urging them not to relocate to foreign countries amidst the ongoing brain drain in the health sector. This appeal was made by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammad Pate, at the induction ceremony of over 600 foreign-trained medical and dental graduates by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

Prof. Pate emphasized the importance of medical practitioners remaining in the country to build a better image for the health sector and contribute to nation-building. He acknowledged the unique skills and characteristics that the foreign-trained doctors bring to the table, which will enhance their practice of medicine or dentistry.

The Chairman of the MDCN, Prof. Afolabi Lesi, also emphasized the significance of the induction ceremony, marking a milestone in the professional journey of the new doctors and a proud moment for Nigeria.
