- Total Allocation: The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared N1.578 trillion among the three tiers of government for March 2025.
- Revenue Breakdown: The allocation consists of N931.325 billion from statutory revenue, N593.750 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT), N24.971 billion from Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL), and N28.711 billion from exchange difference revenue.
Allocation Details
The allocation was distributed as follows:
- The Federal Government received N528.696 billion.
- State governments got N530.448 billion.
- Local government councils received N387.002 billion.
- N132.611 billion was distributed to oil-producing states as 13% derivation revenue.
From the statutory revenue, the Federal Government received N422.485 billion, states got N214.290 billion, and local governments received N165.209 billion. A total of N129.341 billion was shared as derivation revenue to the benefiting states.
The consistent fall in allocations may heighten concerns over the fiscal stability of subnational governments, especially in the face of rising inflation and growing expenditure obligations. Although gross statutory revenue increased in March, VAT collections declined, and revenues from oil and gas royalties, VAT, EMTL, excise duty, import duty, and CET levies also decreased [1].
