At least five people died in an explosion and fire incident at a residential home in Rivers State’s Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, where illegally refined petroleum products were stored. The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre (YEAC-Nigeria) confirmed the incident, which occurred on April 26 around 11 am.
The centre’s director, Dr. Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface, said the explosion killed five people, four females and one male, who were burnt beyond recognition. The police confirmed the incident, stating that a lighted stove ignited the fire.
