Flood Devastation: 5 Communities Cut Off, 2 Lives Lost, 1,000 Displaced in Kaduna State
A severe flood has ravaged communities in Kafanchan and surrounding villages in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the loss of two children and displacing over 1,000 residents. The flood also destroyed farmlands and crops worth millions of naira in Jagindi, Atuku, Aso, and Bade wards.
According to Mrs. Christy Usman, Vice Chairman of Jema’a LGA, the flood has had a significant economic impact on the affected communities. However, she expressed gratitude for the prompt response from Governor Uba Sani, who sent a committee to assess the damage and provide relief.
The Chairman of the Committee, Malam Sani Kila, confirmed that thousands of people require immediate assistance, including food, building materials, and financial support. The committee’s visit aimed to assess the impact of the flood and provide necessary aid to the affected communities in Sanga, Jema’a, and Kachia councils.
