Former Senate President Alleges Corruption in Federal Character Commission

Adolphus Wabara, former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, has accused the Federal Character Commission (FCC) of corruption, specifically job racketeering. Wabara shared his personal experience, stating that he was asked to pay a bribe for job slots during a visit to the FCC to request placements for his constituents.

The FCC has faced similar allegations in the past, with 14 witnesses testifying about paying money to a former FCC desk officer, Haruna Kolo, for job placements. Kolo admitted to collecting money and claimed to have handed it over to FCC Chairman Muheeba Dankaka.

Wabara criticized the APC-led government and National Assembly for allegedly ignoring the corruption allegations. He demanded the sack of Chairman Dankaka, citing the need for accountability and an end to selective investigations.

Adebayo Shittu, a former minister of Communications, echoed Wabara’s sentiments, calling for thorough investigations and urgent action to address the issues within the FCC.
