Fubara to Present 2025 Rivers Budget to Oko-Jumbo-led Assembly

  • Budget Presentation: Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara will present the 2025 budget to the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led State House of Assembly.
  • Partnership and Collaboration: Fubara emphasizes continued partnership with the Assembly to advance Rivers residents’ welfare.
  • Productive Relationship: The executive and legislative arms have a productive relationship, with the Assembly supporting nominee screenings and swiftly passing executive bills ¹.
  • Constituency Projects: Speaker Oko-Jumbo’s focus on constituency projects demonstrates his commitment to local development.
  • Infrastructure Projects: Bonny Local Government Area will be included in upcoming infrastructure projects.

Governor Fubara praised Speaker Oko-Jumbo’s contributions to Bonny, including establishing town halls, financial empowerment for 100 residents, and tertiary scholarships for 30 students. Oko-Jumbo reaffirmed his commitment to the governor’s agenda, despite opposition from detractors.
The 2024 budget was passed by the House but later declared illegal by an Abuja court. An Abuja federal high court recently ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop allocations to the state. The state government has appealed the ruling.

This development comes amid tension in Rivers State over control of its structures, with 25 House of Assembly members loyal to Nyesom Wike joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), prompting the Fubara-led administration to declare their seats vacant.
