A Chevron worker, Samuel Ekerenam, has been abducted by gunmen in the Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 23, at the victim’s shopping mall in Eket. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, the gunmen shot sporadically to scare people away, killed the victim’s driver, and demoralized his police escort before whisking away their victim.

The Police have confirmed the incident and are working to rescue the victim unhurt. The Commissioner for Police, CP Joseph Eribo, and his tactical commanders have visited the scene of the crime, and efforts are being made to rescue the victim. A family source revealed that the abductors are yet to contact the family, and the motive behind the kidnapping is still unknown.
