Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited, shared key insights into the Utapate Sweet Crude Blend, recently unveiled on the international stage.
He highlighted how President Bola Tinubu’s Executive Orders have fostered an enabling environment, simplifying the tasks of NNPC Limited’s board and supporting the dynamic leadership of Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), to achieve remarkable milestones.
Soneye emphasized the need for further explanation regarding Utapate Crude, specifically OML 13.
Since Mr. Mele Kyari assumed the role of GCEO, he has significantly enhanced oil production in Nigeria, driving remarkable transformation in the upstream sector, aided by President Tinubu’s Executive Orders.
The reserves of OML 13 include 330 million barrels of oil, 45 million barrels of condensate, and 3.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas.
The asset is located in Akwa Ibom State, specifically in Eket, with the field discovery period spanning from 1953 to 1987, extensively analyzed using analogue, 2D, and 3D seismic data.
