    Imo State has just received a huge reward from the World Bank – a whopping $4 million (approximately N6.8 billion) for its outstanding performance in promoting good governance and accountability in doing business within the state. This achievement is a testament to the state’s commitment to progressive governance, economic empowerment, and sustainable development.

    According to Hon. Declan Emelumba, the State Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Imo State was one of only four states in Nigeria to qualify for the reimbursement under the World Bank’s State Action on Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) program . The state excelled in four key areas:

    • Efficiency of Land Administration: Streamlining land registration processes and boosting land-based investments through transparent governance.
    • Regulatory Framework for Private Investment: Encouraging investment in fiber optic infrastructure.
    • Services Provided by Investment Promotion Agencies: Strengthening agencies to attract top investors.
    • Efficiency and Transparency of Government-to-Business Services: Fostering accountability in relationships with stakeholders.
