The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) has urged the Ohaneze Ndigbo to adhere to its constitution in the upcoming election of its leadership in January 2025. IPoB warned against any attempts to change the constitution to exclude Igbos from other regions from becoming the President General of the organization.

According to IPoB, such a move would be catastrophic and counterproductive. The group emphasized that the zoning arrangement in Ohaneze Ndigbo’s constitution must be strictly followed, and that the next President General should emerge from Rivers State, as stipulated in the constitution.

IPoB also cautioned against involving outsiders in Ohaneze Ndigbo’s internal affairs, stating that it is shameful and subservient to seek external intervention in the organization’s issues.
