The Kano State Government has condemned the security takeover of the palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, blaming the Federal Government for the action. According to Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, the Secretary to the State Government, the police sealing off the palace entrance came as a surprise, especially since Kano is peaceful ¹.

Bichi stated that the Emir was supposed to escort his district head of Bichi, Wamban Kano, to pray with him and then return, but instead, they woke up to find the palace entrance sealed off by the police. The state government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace in the state, with Bichi saying, “We in Kano have resolved to stay in peace, and peace will reign. Nobody will come to Kano and destabilize it.”
