A Kano State High Court has scheduled a ruling for October 10, 2024, in a dispute involving the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and the Kano State Government.
The case, filed by the Kano State Government, Attorney General of Kano, and Kano Emirate Council, seeks to address certain issues related to the Nasarawa mini palace, where Bayero has resided since his deposition on May 25, 2024.
At the recent hearing, counsel for the applicants, Habib Akilu, informed the court that the defendant was not represented and the substantive suit was ripe for hearing. Chief Judge Justice Dije Aboki subsequently adjourned the matter until October 10, 2024.
The court had previously issued an interim order related to the palace. All parties involved have been directed to maintain the status quo pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
The ruling on October 10 will provide clarity on the matter.
