tsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, has announced that his administration spent N3.77 billion on healthcare services between June 2023 and April 2024. This significant investment is part of efforts to reposition the health sector in the state .
Areas of Investment:
• Foreign Scholarships: Funds were allocated to medical students from Katsina State pursuing studies abroad and those on residency program.
• Primary Healthcare Upgrade: 102 primary healthcare centers were upgraded, with plans to upgrade 34 more to general hospitals by the end of the year.
• Medical Allowances: N112 million was provided as allowances for 542 medical students studying in Nigeria and abroad.
• Sickle Cell and Malaria Support: Free medication was distributed to children living with sickle cell and malaria, in partnership with the First Lady’s NGO, Safe Space Humanitarian Initiative.
Governor Radda emphasized that healthcare funding has increased by 800% under his administration, demonstrating a strong commitment to improving healthcare access for citizens ¹ ².
