Kidnap attempt on lawmaker’s wife: Police kill 3 suspects in Delta

Three suspected kidnappers met their demise in a gun battle with the Delta State Police Command after attempting to kidnap the wife of a Delta State House of Assembly member. The police were hot on their trail, and it didn’t take long to track them down – just weeks after the foiled kidnapping attempt .

Three suspected kidnappers who attempted to kidnap the wife of a Delta State House of Assembly member on September 2, 2024, were neutralized in a gun battle with the police. The kidnappers had killed two mobile policemen and a driver, Mr. David Imela, during the botched kidnapping .

After the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abaniwonda Olufemi, ordered a strategic deployment of police operatives around Warri and its environs to apprehend the suspects. The police created an artificial hold-up at DSC roundabout and spotted the suspects’ vehicle with a matching registration number.

When the kidnappers opened fire, the police responded professionally, and the suspects abandoned their vehicle and escaped with bullet injuries. The police recovered three AK-47 rifles and the operational vehicle with registration number WWR-436-GZ.

The police later tracked down the suspects to their hideout in Agbarho on October 3, 2024, and engaged them in a fierce gun duel. Unfortunately, the suspects didn’t survive the shootout.
