Kwara Plans Mass Burial for Unclaimed Corpses

Kwara State University Teaching Hospital has concluded plans to conduct a mass burial for all unclaimed corpses in its hospital due to its mortuary being filled beyond capacity ¹. The hospital has given the public a 2-week notice to claim the bodies of their relatives and loved ones. According to Yakub Aliagan, Head of Corporate Affairs of the Teaching Hospital, the management implores the general public to come and retrieve the bodies within the next two weeks, after which the management will consider decongestion through mass burial.

The unclaimed corpses have been in the morgue for several years, with some deposited from scenes of robbery and auto crashes. Vanguard gathered that some of the unclaimed corpses have been in the morgue for upwards of ten years.
