Lagos Assembly: No Plan to Compel Obasa to Resign — Lagos APC

  • No Resignation Plan: The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports that Speaker Mudashiru Obasa will be compelled to resign.
  • Peace Parley: Obasa held a peace meeting with his colleagues to reconcile and move forward after his re-election.
  • Withdrawal of Lawsuit: Obasa has promised to withdraw his lawsuit challenging his previous removal as Speaker.
  • Speculated Resignation: Despite speculation that Obasa would resign after 48 hours, the APC has denied any such arrangement.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that there is no plan to compel Speaker Mudashiru Obasa to resign. This comes after Obasa’s re-election as Speaker, following the resignation of Mrs. Mosisili Meranda.

According to the APC spokesman in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, there was no agreement or arrangement for Obasa’s resignation during the negotiation period. This contradicts speculation that Obasa would step down after 48 hours to pave the way for a new Speaker from Lagos West.

Obasa has taken steps to reconcile with his colleagues, holding a peace parley to move forward. He has also promised to withdraw his lawsuit challenging his previous removal as Speaker.

The development is the latest in the leadership crisis that has rocked the Lagos State House of Assembly.
