The Federal Government has urged Nigerians affected by the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway construction to be patient and tolerant, promising that the project will bring significant benefits. According to Mrs Olukorede Kesha, Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, the benefits of the project outweigh the current challenges.
Kesha emphasized that a project of this magnitude will inevitably cause some inconvenience, but the government has reduced the project’s scope to minimize the impact on individuals and communities. The government empathizes with those who have lost personal belongings, especially accommodation, and appeals to residents to consider the larger picture.
The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is expected to have numerous benefits, including connecting all 7 ports in Nigeria, serving as an alternative to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and connecting major cities in the South West and South South.
