Three police officers in Lagos State have been detained for allegedly extorting ₦150,000 from a 21-year-old content creator. The victim, who was traveling with a colleague from Berger to Ikeja in a Bolt ride, claimed that the officers stopped their car during a stop-and-search operation, forced them into the back of their car, and took them to Isheri Police Station .

The officers initially demanded ₦2 million for their release, but the victim negotiated it down to ₦100,000. However, when the officers checked his phone and saw money in his Binance and Trust Wallet apps, they demanded more. The victim was eventually forced to withdraw and hand over ₦150,000 in cash before they were allowed to leave after two hours .

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the detention of the officers and stated that the money has been recovered. The Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the immediate transfer of the officers to the Provost Office for disciplinary action .
