Tragedy struck at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Wildlife Park in Abeokuta, Ogun State, when a lion attacked and killed its handler, 35-year-old Babaji Daule from Bauchi State. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 28, 2024, while Daule was feeding the lion .
Apparently, Daule forgot to secure the locks and barricade the lion’s enclosure before approaching the cage, giving the lion the opportunity to escape and attack him.
The spokesman for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday said the wild lion was shot to release its grip on the handler.
