London School Incident: Two Teenagers Hospitalized After Suspected Acid Attack

A suspected acid attack outside Westminster Academy school in London left two teenagers hospitalized on Tuesday, with one suffering potentially life-changing injuries. Three individuals, including a staff member, were injured when a substance was thrown at them on Monday afternoon.

According to London police, tests are ongoing to confirm the nature of the substance, but initial indications suggest it was acidic. A 14-year-old girl’s injuries are considered potentially life-changing, while a 16-year-old boy’s injuries are not. A 27-year-old woman was discharged from hospital with non-life-changing injuries.

Numera Anwar, the school’s principal, described the incident as “distressing” and involving an “acid-like corrosive substance.” The attack occurred outside the school building as students and staff were leaving.

The school was closed on Tuesday to facilitate a thorough investigation and ensure the implementation of necessary safety measures. This incident comes amid concerns over rising corrosive substance attacks in Britain, following a decline in recent years.

Police have established multiple crime scenes and are working to identify and apprehend those responsible. Emergency services responded promptly, and two officers were hospitalized as a precaution after reporting feelings of unwellness.

Westminster City Council leader Adam Hug condemned the attack, stating, “This is a truly shocking incident, and we will work closely with police to provide reassurance and support to the affected community.”
