Magboro Community in Ogun State Plunged into Darkness Due to Cable Theft

The theft of electrical cables has caused a blackout in Magboro Community, Ogun State, affecting four streets. According to the Community Development Association Chairman, Adeyemo Mudashir, this is the third instance of cable theft in the area since 2011.

The community has borne the cost of replacing the stolen cables, with no assistance from the government. Mudashir expressed frustration that the perpetrators remain unknown, suspecting experienced individuals or cart pushers.

The matter has been reported to the power company and the Ibafo Police Station. The community appeals for stable electricity supply to prevent future theft.

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company spokesperson, Busolami Tunwase, emphasized the need for communities to collaborate with DISCOs to curb infrastructure vandalism. However, she noted that financial constraints currently hinder the company’s ability to address the issue immediately.
