Oil marketers have announced that the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, produced by the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, ranges from N1,015 to N1,028 per litre, depending on the quantity purchased.
In response, the marketers have committed to importing the commodity and selling it at prices lower than those set by the Dangote refinery and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.Recent data from the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria, released on Thursday, revealed that as of October 31, 2024, the landing cost of petrol stands at N978.01 per litre. Additionally, the landing costs for diesel and aviation fuel were reported at N1,069.97 and N1,119.67 per litre, respectively.
- The landing cost of these white products refers to the unit price of the imported commodities upon arrival in Nigeria.
- Since the Dangote refinery began supplying refined petroleum products domestically, it has not disclosed the cost of the commodity, despite numerous requests for this information.
- A major marketer, who spoke anonymously due to a lack of authorization, confirmed that the price of petrol from the Dangote refinery is higher than that of imported PMS.
- According to the official, the refinery currently sells to oil marketers making bulk purchases at N1,015 per litre and to smaller buyers at N1,028 per litre.
- The major marketer revealed that three cargoes with petroleum products recently arrived and were discharged at seaports along the nation’s borders.
- According to the dealer, Dangote sells to bulk buyers at N1,015 per litre, while non-bulk buyers are offered the product at N1,028 per litre.
The dealer emphasized that imported PMS is more affordable than Dangote’s product, leading Dangote to push for government intervention to halt fuel imports.
