National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Intercepts Illicit Substances in Unconventional Containers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully intercepted multiple consignments of illicit substances, including cocaine and pharmaceutical opioids, cleverly concealed in sanitary pads and hair treatment cream containers at various courier firms in Lagos. The seized parcels were destined for international destinations, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Cyprus.

The agency’s operatives conducted thorough examinations, resulting in the recovery of:

  • 30 parcels containing 1.1 kilograms of cocaine hidden in hair cream containers bound for Ireland
  • 24 parcels containing 862 grams of cocaine concealed in hair cream containers destined for the United Kingdom
  • 525 pills of tramadol and ecstasy secreted in ladies’ sanitary pads intended for Cyprus
  • 200 ampoules of promethazine and pentazocine injection hidden in food items and herbs bound for London
  • 550,000 pills of tramadol seized at the Port Harcourt International Airport
  • 100,000 kilograms of cannabis destroyed in Ekiti State
  • Various quantities of cannabis, tramadol, and diazepam intercepted in Jigawa, Kogi, and Kano states

Several individuals have been apprehended in connection with these seizures, and further investigations are underway. The NDLEA’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to combating illicit drug trafficking and ensuring public safety.
