- Senator Ned Nwoko is set to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC)
- Nwoko has not made an official announcement but hinted at the move when contacted by Vanguard
- His frosty relationship with PDP leaders in Delta State and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori may be reasons for his defection
Senator Ned Nwoko, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, is reportedly planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Although Nwoko has not officially announced his defection, he hinted at the move when Vanguard contacted him, simply replying “soon”.
Nwoko’s decision may be attributed to his strained relationship with PDP leaders in Delta State, particularly Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whom he has publicly criticized. Additionally, the senator may be joining his predecessor, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, who is already a member of the APC.
Another factor that might have influenced Nwoko’s decision is the potential return of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the immediate past governor of Delta, to the Senate in 2027 under the PDP platform. Okowa previously represented Delta North in the Senate before Nwaoboshi.
