Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta have started receiving credit alerts from the banks for student loans they applied for, the institution’s Rector, Dr Adeoye Odedeji says.
The Rector explained that the loans from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) was received by the institution on behalf of the students for the payment of their school fees.
“Odedeji expressed concern that a significant majority of students have not utilized the student loan opportunity provided by the Federal Government. He urged students to take advantage of this initiative, emphasizing its purpose of alleviating the financial burden of seeking funds for school fees.
According to Odedeji, approximately 11,000 student data were submitted to NELFUND, but only 81 students from the institution registered and applied for the loan. Following a screening process, 26 students were deemed eligible to receive the loan.”
