According to Y.I Abdulmajeed, the Rivers State Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, a total of 94 persons were arrested, with 85 being Cameroonians, five Chadians, and four Nigerians. The breakdown shows that 74 of the suspects are males, while 20 are females .
It’s worth noting that all 90 foreigners entered the country through unauthorized entry points and didn’t present any residence cards or travel documents during interrogation. Additionally, two Nigerians from Rivers State who provided accommodation for the suspects were also arrested.
The Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, has ordered the repatriation of the foreigners to their respective countries of origin. This move aims to tackle the growing issue of cybercrime in Nigeria, which is estimated to cost the country around $500 million annually .
