Nigeria Suffers Nationwide Blackout as National Grid Collapses Again

Nigeria has been plunged into darkness following another collapse of the national grid, which occurred on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. This latest disruption comes after multiple grid failures in October, despite the Federal Government’s promises to find a permanent solution.

According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the grid experienced a partial disturbance at 1:52 pm due to a series of line and generator trippings, causing instability and disruption.

As of 2:35 pm, power generation data showed that none of the Power Generation Companies had produced a single megawatt.

TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah apologized for the inconvenience, stating that engineers are working to restore bulk power supply to affected states. Bulk power supply was restored to Abuja at 2:49 pm, with gradual restoration ongoing across the country.
