“The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting thundery and rainy conditions across Nigeria from Wednesday to Friday.
According to the agency’s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, thunderstorms are expected to affect various states across the country, including Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto.
In the North Central region, light to moderate rains are anticipated over parts of Plateau and Nasarawa States, while moderate rains are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Benue, Kwara, and Nasarawa States.
In the southern region, cloudy skies are expected with prospects of light rains over parts of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, followed by rains over parts of Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa States.
NiMet has also predicted thunderstorms over parts of Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, and Borno States on Thursday, with moderate rains expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Plateau States.
For Friday, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Borno, and Yobe States, with cloudy skies anticipated over the southern States and prospects of rains over parts of Osun, Oyo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Delta States.
The agency has advised residents to avoid flood-prone areas due to the high likelihood of urban flooding and to take adequate precautions against strong winds and thunderstorms. Public and airline operators are also advised to obtain updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning.”
