The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commended the Kwara State Government for its swift and fair handling of the assault on a female Corps Member by a school teacher. The incident occurred at the Government Day Junior Secondary School in Ilorin, where the teacher, Hajia Fatimoh Nike Hamzat, allegedly assaulted the Corps Member for not greeting her properly .
According to reports, the assault involved both verbal and physical abuse. The NYSC has praised the investigative panel set up by the Kwara State Government for its objectivity and adherence to the Public Service Rules .
The NYSC emphasized that such incidents of maltreatment would not be tolerated and that Corps Members deserve to be treated with respect by their employers and host communities . The Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, reiterated that the welfare and security of Corps Members remain a top priority for his administration .
In a related development, the NYSC has withdrawn all Corps Members serving at the Government Day Secondary School in Ilorin, following the alleged assault . The Kwara State Government has also launched an investigation into the matter and condemned the assault .
