Bola Tinubu and Petter Obi
Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration for wasteful spending amidst Nigeria’s crisis. Obi highlighted examples of excessive spending, including a $100m presidential jet, N21bn for the vice president’s lodge renovation, and N15bn for the National Assembly clinic.
Obi emphasized that the government cannot ask citizens to make sacrifices while they indulge in luxury. He stressed the need for the government to prioritize key development areas like health, education, poverty alleviation, and security.
With 38 million Nigerians facing extreme hunger, Obi called for investment in agriculture to address hunger, unemployment, and inflation. He also hinted at a possible merger with other opposition parties to tackle the country’s challenges ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
