The Ogun State House of Assembly has taken a strong stance against Dangote Cement Company, summoning its management to provide a comprehensive master plan for its Ibese cement plant. This decision comes after a report by the joint House Committees on Trade, Commerce and Investment, and Environment found the company guilty of alleged environmental abuse.

The report, presented by Committee Chairman Adebisi Oyedele, highlighted the company’s lackadaisical approach to the livelihood of the people, causing havoc on host communities and commuters. The committee observed that the company had constructed a cement factory for decades without a trailer park, leading to environmental degradation and haphazard parking.

The Assembly has emphasized the importance of Dangote Cement being more proactive in fulfilling its Corporate Social Responsibility obligations to the affected communities. The company must submit its master plan, reflecting all related facilities, including a trailer park and industrial drainage channel, in line with international best practices.
