Olumo Rock to Close for Renovation on April 14

  • Temporary Closure: Olumo Rock Tourist Centre will be closed from April 14 for renovation and facelift.

  • Annual Visitors: Over 70,000 visitors necessitate a befitting outlook for the iconic destination.
  • Public Notification: The Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism apologized for potential inconveniences and promised updates as work progresses.

The Ogun State Government’s renovation plan is part of a broader initiative to develop sustainable cultural infrastructure and enhance heritage tourism.

Movie and Leisure Village: A state-of-the-art village is being developed in partnership with Terra Kulture to honor cultural icons like Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Wole Soyinka.

Restoration of Landmarks: Other heritage sites, such as Fela’s mother’s house and MKO Abiola’s residence, are also being restored.

Corridor of Fame: A hall of fame is planned to showcase the contributions of distinguished figures in music, film, drama, and the arts.

Olumo Rock is a popular tourist destination in Abeokuta, with an art gallery and stunning views of the city. Visitors can hike to the top of the rock and explore its surroundings ².
