Ondo State’s Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, has been embroiled in controversy over allegedly spending N130 million on hotel bills in just one year. This extravagant expense has raised eyebrows, especially considering that his official quarters are still under renovation.
According to reports, Adelami and his aides have been staying in luxurious hotels since he assumed office in February 2024. The opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticized this lavish spending, suggesting that the state government should have allocated the newly renovated VIP lodge to Adelami instead.
In defense, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Media, Rahman Adekunle Yusuf, claimed that Adelami only occasionally stays in a hotel apartment due to the ongoing renovation of his official residence. However, this explanation has done little to quell the outrage over the perceived misuse of public funds .
