Ondo Election Update: Winner to Emerge Early as INEC Uploads 98% Results on Portal


•⁠ ⁠Low Voter Turnout: Many polling units reported low voter turnout, with elections concluding by 2 pm.
•⁠ ⁠Widespread Vote-Buying: Party loyalists distributed money to voters near polling units.
•⁠ ⁠Security Deployment: 22,239 police officers, 1,500 Federal Road Safety Corps personnel, and 6,000 Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officers were deployed for the exercise.

The Ondo State Governorship Election has taken place, and the results are being tallied. With 98% of the results uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal, a winner is expected to emerge soon.


The main contenders were incumbent governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ¹.
