Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum, has expressed concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills, stating that only Lagos and Rivers States will benefit from the policy. Zulum, who appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, explained that the northern governors advised President Tinubu to withdraw the bills to allow for further consultation and a deeper understanding of the tax regime.

According to Zulum, the Northern Governors Forum conducted its own research and concluded that the majority of states would lose out if the bill is passed into law. He emphasized the need for caution, stating, “Why are we in a rush? We advised the Federal Government to take a pause, and expunge some of the clauses that are inimical to not only Northern Nigeria.”
