  • Allegations Against Police: Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong accuses police of an “evil, sinister, oppressive, and corrupt scheme” to frame Alabi.

A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has revealed that over N10 million was raised in four days to support Quadri Alabi, a 17-year-old who was wrongfully accused and detained by the police. Alabi was allegedly targeted by local “area boys” who extorted him and framed him for a crime he didn’t commit.

Effiong claims the police falsified Alabi’s age, stating he was 18 to prosecute him as an adult. The case has sparked outrage, and the donations will be used to relocate Alabi and support his family.

During an interview, Alabi recounted his experience, stating he was arrested and detained with older men after being pointed out by the area boys. Effiong described the police’s actions as an “evil, sinister, oppressive, and corrupt scheme” to frame a teenager.
