PANDEF Establishes Reconciliation Committee to Resolve Wike, Fubara Crisis

The Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), under the leadership of Chief Edwin Clark, has constituted a High Level Peace and Reconciliation Committee to address the ongoing dispute between Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Objective:
The committee aims to mediate and resolve the lingering crisis, as well as prevent future disputes within the area.

Committee Composition:
The reconciliation committee is chaired by Obong Victor Attah, Co-Chairman, PANDEF Board of Trustees, and comprises esteemed members, including:

  • Senator Emmanuel Ibok-Essien
  • Senator Rowland Owie
  • Senator Stella Omu
  • Rear Admiral G. John-Jonah (former Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State)
  • H. E. Pam Ogar
  • Rt. Hon. Dr. Stella Dorgu

The decision to establish the committee was announced in a communiqué following PANDEF’s Special General Assembly meeting held in Port Harcourt. The communiqué was signed by King Alfred Diette-Spiff, Co-Chairman, Board of Trustees; Obong Victor Attah, Co-Chairman, Board of Trustees; Dr. Godknows B. Igali, National Chairman; Hon Godwin Okotie, Ag. National Secretary; and Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, National Spokesman.

Note:
Former Governor Ayodele Fayose has expressed doubts about the possibility of reconciliation, describing the feud as “beyond reconciliation.”
