PDP Rules Out Coalition or Merger for 2027 Elections

  • No Coalition or Merger: The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) has ruled out joining any coalition or merger with other parties to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
  • Open to New Members: However, the PDP welcomes individuals, parties, or groups willing to join the party to wrestle power and promote good leadership in 2027.
  • Meeting Details: The decision was made during a two-day meeting of the PDPGF in Ibadan, Oyo State, attended by nine governors, with some represented by their deputies.
  • Other Resolutions: The forum also resolved to recommend the Deputy National Secretary act as National Secretary pending nomination and ratification of a substantive Secretary from the South East Zone.

The PDP Governors’ Forum meeting, held on April 13-14, 2025, in Ibadan, saw the attendance of governors from various states, including Bauchi, Enugu, Taraba, Zamfara, Oyo, Plateau, Adamawa, Osun, and Bayelsa. Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Chairman of the PDPGF, disclosed that the party would not consider merging with other parties but is open to welcoming new members.
