- Chief Felix Omemu, the Zonal Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-South zone, has been suspended for one month due to alleged misconduct.
The suspension was announced at the South-South executive committee meeting held on Saturday in Benin. Omemu’s suspension followed the issuance of unauthorized statements and his actions, which were deemed misconduct and division.
According to reports, Omemu had declared the meeting called by the PDP National Vice-Chairman, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih, as illegal. However, his statement was seen as an attempt to cause disunity and discourage members from attending the South-South ZEC meeting.
The motion for Omemu’s suspension was moved by the Speaker of Rivers House of Assembly, Mr. Martin Amaewhule, and seconded by Mr. Godwin Offiono, a member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
