Daveyton march demands undocumented migrants leave South Africa
Residents of Ekurhuleni marched in Daveyton calling for undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa and stricter enforcement of immigration laws.
Residents of Ekurhuleni east of Johannesburg led another march through Daveyton calling on undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa. They also called for stricter enforcement of immigration laws.
The protest comes ahead of the June 30th deadline where anti-immigration groups such as March and March and Operation Dudula have called for all undocumented migrants to return to their countries of origin.
March organiser Oupa Sello said their only problem is undocumented migrants who are flooding their neighbourhood. “Our township or Benoni is full of undocumented foreigners, others claim that they’ve got documents but those are fraudulent documents. It’s not that we’re against foreigners but I think it’s about time or is time all the foreigners go back home, because we need to fix our country.”
