The Kaduna State Government has commenced training 1,000 forest guards to help secure forests and flush out criminal elements, with trainees drawn from flashpoint areas.

The Kaduna State Government has started training 1,000 forest guards as part of renewed efforts to tackle insecurity in the state. The guards are expected to serve as the eyes and ears of security agencies, helping to identify suspicious movements and provide timely intelligence.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by his chief of staff, Sani Kila, addressed the trainees at the Police College in Kaduna. He urged them to imbibe discipline and professionalism as they defend their state and communities. The governor said the forest guards will receive adequate training and work with security agencies to ensure effective operations. He expressed confidence that the initiative will enhance safety, allow farmers to return to their farmlands, and improve daily life in rural areas.

The trainees were chosen from flashpoint areas where they are familiar with the terrain. According to the governor's representative, the people of Kaduna State are ready to answer the call. He also thanked Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu. At the end of the six-week training, the guards will be deployed back to flashpoints, which include eight critical local government areas in Kaduna.
