Solomon Dalung Questions Federal Government on Deployed Forest Guards
Former Minister of Sports Solomon Dalung has asked the Federal Government about the whereabouts of the 7,000 forest guards who graduated last December, noting that terrorists continue to use forests for criminal activities.
Former Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has questioned the Federal Government about the 7,000 forest guards who graduated and were recruited into Nigeria's security architecture in December 2025. The Federal Government on December 27 last year announced the graduation of the Forest Guards.
According to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Nuhu Ribadu, the Presidential Forest Guards Initiative launched by President Tinubu in May 2025 represents a coordinated Federal-State security intervention aimed at reclaiming Nigeria's forests from criminal exploitation. Ribadu stated that the Forest Guards were indigenous to their respective local government areas, enabling them to leverage terrain familiarity and community trust in countering banditry, kidnapping, and the illegal exploitation of forest resources.
In a post shared on social media today, June 6, Dalung asked where the Forest Guards were serving when terrorists still use forests to carry out their nefarious activities.
